Almost all lawn grasses are classified as either “cool season” (meaning they do better in the southern parts of Australia) or “warm season” (better adapted to Queensland, Northern NSW and northern Australia). Buffalo turf is a hardy variety and grows well in warm climates. It is also well suited to shaded areas and retains colour and growth year round.
Grand Emerald Green Soft Leaf Buffalo (TM) grows quickly across the ground, has excellent winter colour and a deep root system. It is a fine leaf buffalo, which is very soft to touch and is non-allergenic. It will grow in sun and shade with up to four hours a day of sunlight. This grass has a tight mat with medium grade stolons allowing it to be kept nice and short. It is also capable of handling high traffic and has a fast repair rate. It does not grow high and thatch like, making it easy to mow with the growth rate for mowing being every eight to ten days. It is also quite tolerant to salt making it perfect for beachfront properties and coastal areas. Grand Emerald Green is very drought tolerant and depending on the type of soil you have, does not need a lot of water.
These qualities make it an ideal choice for residential homes and playground areas in parks and schools and ideally suited to the Queensland and Northern NSW climate.
